GUIDE

Export an animation

Render a Motion Lab composition in your browser, match project settings, and check the downloaded result.

On this page

Use this guide when your composition is ready and you want a rendered animation file.

Before you export

Preview the full composition. Check the aspect ratio, duration, visible layers, and the beginning and end of each clip. Save your project if you want to return to the editable version later.

Set the output

  1. Open Export in Motion Lab.
  2. Enable Use Project Settings to use the project's resolution, aspect ratio, and duration.
  3. Choose 30 FPS for a first render. Higher frame rates increase the number of frames to render.
  4. Choose an available format. Format support depends on the browser and its encoding capabilities.
  5. Check the displayed output dimensions and duration before starting.

Render and check the file

Select Render Video and wait for rendering to finish. Keep the page open while the browser is producing the file.

Open the downloaded result and inspect the whole animation. For a loop, enable repeat in the player and watch the transition back to the beginning.

The exported file is the rendered result. Keep your editable project separately for future changes.

Troubleshooting

A format is unavailable. Choose a format the export panel supports in your current browser. Browser encoding support can differ between devices.

The result has the wrong proportions. Enable Use Project Settings and check the displayed dimensions. If you use custom output settings, match the composition's aspect ratio.

Rendering is slow. Try a lower resolution or frame rate and simplify expensive effects or code. A short test render helps you check settings before rendering a longer composition.

A layer disappears or the loop jumps. Check its timeline clip and visibility throughout the composition. Read Timeline time and loops to check that every animated property repeats.
